Oh, What a Night

62 points, 551 yards, 0 turnovers, 1 gorgeous trick play and a missed field goal (classic!). And we didn't even punt!

Mississippi State lambasted Troy University Saturday night, 62-7, using a 2nd quarter 35-point outburst that MSU fans haven't seen since…

Sophomore QB Dak Prescott again turned in an impressive performance with 233 yards passing, including throwing 13-for-21 and a touchdown. Equally as outstanding was junior WR Jameon Lewis, who caught two balls for 96 yards and a touchdown. And the two stars notched what must be considered football's version of a hat trick: running, throwing and receiving touchdowns. MSU fans last saw that,  that time when…

Props to the defensive side as well, as the unit slowed the high-scoring offense of Troy to just 7 points (after averaging 45). The Trojans scored on a short TD pass by NCAA career passing yards leader Corey Robinson at the end of the first quarter. And never sniffed the red zone again. Seriously. They totaled 3 yards in the second half.

The Bulldogs get rewarded for their effort with a bye week. But after that is LSU. A team, fans will remember, that hasn't lost to the Dawgs since…

1999.
