]]>Donna is a native of New Jersey. She moved to Mississippi with her husband and two sons from Germantown, TN 25 years ago.
She was fortunate to get a job with Mississippi State University as soon as she arrived in Mississippi. Donna started at the Research Park, The Thad Cochran Research Center, at a temporary position. Before that was finalized, she applied for and was hired as a secretary in Student Life, which is now The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. After 2 years she went on to work in the Student Association and worked with a diversified group of students for 16 years. Great job, worked exclusively with students.
When the Union was redone, Donna went back to working in Fraternity/Sorority Life. She also worked in the Center for Student Activities for a couple of years and then went back to work in Fraternity/Sorority Life.
Just recently, she was offered a job working at the 2nd floor information Desk in the Union. Giving information to students, parents, faculty, and staff. She is also in charge of the Lost & Found as well as giving out keys for rooms and facilities that are reserved and the keys for the Union golf carts.
The 25 years that Donna has worked at MSU, she has advised several student organizations, the Black Student Alliance, Starlight Dancers, and still advises the Honorary, Sigma Alpha Lambda. She has also judged Miss Black & Gold, Delta Gent, Battle of the Bands, along with other competitions.
Donna has received several certificates and awards. From Honorary Order of Omega recipient, Friend of the Greeks, favorite Student Affairs Clerical Worker to name a few, but the most meaningful was the Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award.
During her time here she has served on several committees. President’s Commission on the Status of Women. VP Search & Selection Committee, and is now serving on the President’s Commission for the Status of Minorities.
I love working at MSU. The students are the best part of the job. Over the course of time I have been so blessed to interact, befriend, and talk with scores of students. Although I have gotten to know and worked with many wonderful people, the students is what I will miss the most. I have learned a lot from them, have made lasting friendships, and they keep you young!
Hail State!!
